COMMUNITY CENTRE
Ideally situated in the centre of Oakwood, adjacen t to the Springwood Leisure Centre, and bordering on parkland and playing fields. Oakwood Community Centre is home to a variety of different activities for young and old alike. From Mother & Toddler to Over 60 bowls, to dancegroups to karate groups and scout and guides groups who meet on a weekly basis.
The centre is also available for individual hire for functions such as birthday parties, community activities and the like. It also plays host to local-government, national and european parliament elections.
Use of the centre is extremely reasonably priced, based on a 3 tier system dependant upon classification of usage into one of the following:-
1. Regular usage by community based non-profit organisations and charties.
2. Regular usage for Business activities.
3. Individual and one-off rentals.
The community centre is managed independently by a Management Committee made up primarily of volunteers who are residents on the Oakwood estate or users of the centre and have a real interest in seeing this excellant facility being used to the benefit of all in our community. Derby City Council also provides support in the running and maintenance of the facility, although the intention is very much that it is managed by the residents of Oakwood for the residents of Oakwood.
