The library opened on Tuesday 2 December 08. in Springwood Leisure Centre on Springwood Drive. The local community has been involved in the planning and design of the library through a series of roadshows; facilities include a children’s area with space for storytimes, and an area for teenagers.

Offering 10,000 books, magazines for loan, audiobooks in CD and MP3 formats, DVDs, and childrens’ storytimes. Over the coming weeks, the library will introduce free Internet and e-mail facilities, as well as word-processing and other Microsoft Office applications and Internet taster sessions for beginners.
